Refresh North Texas is a nonprofit organization that provides personal hygiene packages to underserved youth in Frisco, Texas. The group supplies packages four times per year to ensure that children and families have essential resources.
Items such as shampoos, conditioners, deodorants and toothpaste are found in the hygiene kits. Students who qualify for free and reduced lunch are eligible to receive the packages through the Refresh Hygiene Program.
“One of the things that a lot of people don’t realize is that hygiene products aren’t covered by federal assistance programs,” said Colleen Dachowicz, Community Relations Director at Refresh North Texas. The organization aims to take some stress away from individuals who are struggling to provide for their families.
CASI’s Community Grant funding will provide Refresh North Texas with around 100 hygiene packages for the students in Frisco. In total, the group serves around 2,000 students in the local community.
